Beh sarò ingenua, ma mi garba moltissimo pubblicare questa foto. Storico incontro, tra pacche sulle spalle e strette di mano, tra Obama e Chavez al summit delle Americhe. Speriamo sia preludio alla fine di un'insensata inimicizia.

Lo zio Hugo ha anche colpito la classifica dei bestseller per la seconda volta. Dopo aver sbancato Amazon consigliando urbi et orbi all'assemblea ONU la lettura di Egemonia e Sopravvivenza di Noam Chomsky, ora regala al Presidente USA una copia di Le vene aperte dell'America Latina di Eduardo Galeano che balza immediatamente ai primi posti delle vendite internazionali.

Se mai smetterà di fare il Presidente, Chavez avrà un futuro come agente letterario..

Ieri mattina alle 7 J.G Ballard è morto, dopo una lunga malattia. La sua opera è una potente lente psico-estetica.

There’s a strong sense today that we prefer a partly fictionalised reality onto which we can map our own dreams and obsessions. The Mondo Cane films were among the first attempts to provide the collusive fictions that constitute reality today. Wartime propaganda, and the Believe it or Not (Ripley) comic strip of bizarre facts in the 1930s, were assumed to be largely true, but no one today thinks the same of the official information flowing out of Iraq — or out of 10 Downing Street and the Pentagon and significantly this doesn’t unsettle us.
